Confidentiality and privacy are critical for the ongoing successful operation of a Pastoral Care Program.
This applies to the
- incidental collection of information about clients, including information about their family and friends
- handling of information about other Coordinators and Volunteers within the Care Program
- circulation and discussion of information with other agencies, organisations and individuals outside of Catholic Outreach.
AT ALL TIMES … the privacy of clients shall be respected and confidentiality regarding personal needs and circumstances of clients shall be strictly observed by Coordinators, Volunteers and others.
AT NO TIME … are clients and their needs or circumstances to be discussed with anyone outside of Catholic Outreach. Telephone numbers or client’s addresses should not be disclosed to others, unless it has been agreed to as a part of some activity or support. A person requesting such information should be asked to leave his or her own name and telephone number so that the Coordinator or Volunteer can contact the enquirer.
